New Construction and Commercial Building Inspections
Before construction permits can be obtained for new buildings (or renovations to existing buildings), the Fire Marshal’s Office must review plans to address life safety codes through the North Carolina Fire Code have been addressed. In addition to building construction projects, the Fire Marshal’s Office also reviews proposed subdivision plans to ensure fire hydrant placement and proper emergency vehicle access.
All new construction commercial buildings, fire lines, fire suppression systems, fire alarm systems, BDA systems, subdivisions and commercial up-fits are required to obtain a permit for work. The Fire Marshal's Office utilizes the county portal for all plan reviews and permitting issuance.
