Lane closures begin Monday, March 9 on Hoover Road between U.S. 17 and Misty Lakes Drive

The N.C. Department of Transportation will begin a series of lane closures on Hoover Road in Pender County starting Monday, March 9.

Alternating lanes of Hoover Road from U.S. 17 to Misty Lakes Drive will close for approximately two months for drainage and roadway improvements. Work will include drainage installation, pipe installation within roadway lateral ditches, and the installation of drainage structures with grates and frames. Crews will also widen and resurface the roadway and install new pavement markings and markers.

One lane will remain open throughout the project to allow through traffic. The road is expected to fully reopen by mid-May.

Motorists should slow down, stay alert in the work zone and plan for possible delays. Drivers may wish to use alternate routes during the project.
