2. Acknowledgement

   Upon submitting this information, I understand I am consenting to foster to adopt this animal found in Pender County with the Pender County Animal Shelter (PCAS). I understand that all animals enrolled in this program will be posted online for the purpose of reunification with their owner if they are a lost or stolen pet, because animals in this program are not owned animals, but strays that were found in Pender County. If the animal you are registering does not meet these criteria, do not submit the application!  If an owner is located while in Foster Care with Pender Co Animal Shelter, and especially during the stray hold period, as outlined in NCGS, I understand I am LEGALLY required to turn the pet over to Pender County Animal Shelter/Control for reunification. If the pet is unclaimed, I will have first option to adopt. I am NOT committed to adopt and can at any time turn the animal over to animal services during normal operation hours. PCAS will contact me if an owner is found and notify me when my surgery appointment is for the animal I am harboring.  PLEASE NOTE, it can take upwards of 30 days for surgery appointments and adoption finalization due to veterinary shortages. You will be notified via email of your appointments, so please monitor your email at regular intervals.  At the time of pick up, the adoption will be finalized, and adoption fees will be paid.  I understand PCAS/Pender County Government is NOT responsible for ANY damages or expenses incurred while the animal is in my custody/care.

It is preferred that you bring the animal in right away to be scanned for a microchip and vaccines -   this prevents any ownership disputes on day of surgery and reduces the risks of illness while in your custody.   Please note, time for surgical procedure and adoption finalization can be upwards of 14-30 days based on health of pet and surgical availability.
