Pender County’s Youth Softball Teams Head to the 2024 World Series in Louisiana

Pender County, NC—Pender County proudly announces that two local youth softball teams, the Topsail Ponytails and the Burgaw Debs, will represent North Carolina in the 2024 World Series of the Dixie Softball League. This prestigious event will take place in Louisiana and showcase the exceptional talent and sportsmanship of our young athletes.

The Burgaw Debs have earned the prestigious title of North Carolina Dixie Softball State Champion for the Debs division, securing the top spot in the State bracket. Although not pictured, their remarkable performance and dedication have set a high standard for excellence in youth softball.

Along with two other teams in the Dixie Softball league, the Topsail Ponytails were honored with the state sportsmanship award. This accolade underscores their commitment to fair play, teamwork, and respect on and off the field. 

“We are incredibly proud of both the Burgaw Debs and the Topsail Ponytails for their remarkable achievements,” said Zach White, Director of Pender County Parks and Recreation. “Their hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship embody the spirit of our community, and we are excited to see them represent Pender County and North Carolina on a national stage.”
