BURGAW, N.C.— Pender County will celebrate its 150th anniversary with a special event at the Pender County Courthouse on Feb. 16, 2025, at 2 p.m. The ceremony will include speeches from local leaders and the unveiling of a new clock and historical marker on the courthouse grounds.
As part of the sesquicentennial celebration, the county also will create a time capsule to be opened during its bicentennial in 2075. The capsule will preserve the county’s history, values, and spirit for future generations.
Call for Time Capsule Contributions
Pender County residents are invited to contribute items that represent the community. Items should reflect the county’s history and spirit and must be free of liquids and corrosive materials.
Suggested items include photographs, letters, local memorabilia, or anything that reflects the heart of Pender County. This is a unique opportunity to leave a lasting mark on Pender County’s legacy. Contributions can be submitted through an online form at found at pendercountync.gov
