Pender EMS & Fire will be conducting additional fire flow testing throughout the County, specifically in the Hampstead, Scott’s Hill, and Long Creek areas, over the next several weeks as they complete their annual inspections. During this process, fire crews open hydrants to flush the system and measure water flow.
While this work is essential for ensuring hydrants are operating properly and ready for emergency use, you may notice some temporary effects in nearby areas, including:
- Discolored or cloudy water
- Lower water pressure
- Short-term changes in water clarity
These conditions are normal during hydrant flushing and should clear up quickly. If you experience discolored water, we recommend running your cold water tap for a few minutes until it clears.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact Pender Water & Sewer at 910-259-1570. Thank you for your patience as Pender EMS & Fire completes this important work to help keep our community safe.
