The Pender County Board of Elections has extended the candidate filing period for three contests in the upcoming 2025 Municipal Election.
During its most recent meeting, the board passed a resolution to reopen candidate filing for the following offices:
- Town of Atkinson Mayor
- Town of Atkinson Commissioner (Unexpired Term)
- Town of Watha Commissioner
The extended filing period will begin Monday, July 28, at 8 a.m. and will close on Friday, August 1, at 12 p.m. (noon).
The filing fee for each race is $6, payable by check, money order, or cash.
Candidates must file at the Pender County Board of Elections office, located at 807 S. Walker St., Burgaw, NC 28425. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
