Pender County to Close Shelters and Deactivate EOC Today

Home Posted on August 08, 2024

PENDER COUNTY, NC— Pender County Emergency Management will close all emergency shelters at 3 p.m. today and deactivate the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at 6 p.m. This decision comes as weather conditions have improved.

Pender County offices will resume normal operating hours tomorrow, ensuring that all county services are back on schedule.

Residents should remain cautious as there are both marked and unmarked flooded roads throughout the county. The flooding poses a significant risk to drivers, and caution is strongly advised.

“Safety is our top priority,” said Tommy Batson, Director of Pender County Emergency Management Services. “We appreciate the community’s cooperation and patience during this time. While conditions are improving, we urge everyone to stay informed and avoid flooded areas. Together, we can ensure the well-being of our entire community.”

Residents are urged to stay safe, take all necessary precautions, and remain informed. For the latest updates, download the Pender County EM App on your cellphone.
