Bradenburg and AdamsDuring the May 19 meeting of the Pender County Board of Commissioners, Detective Sergeant Roy Brandenburg of the Pender County Sheriff’s Office was presented with the prestigious Significant Case Award by the U.S. Secret Service. The award was given in recognition of Brandenburg’s exceptional work in computer forensics and his impactful application of training and resources provided by the National Computer Forensics Institute (NCFI).

Secret Service Agent Eric Adams presented the award, which acknowledges individuals who play a vital role in major investigations through the effective use of digital forensics tools and techniques taught at NCFI. Eric Adams is the Resident Agent in Charge (RAIC) of the Wilmington office. The institute, based in Hoover, Alabama, is operated by the U.S. Secret Service and equips local law enforcement agencies nationwide with the training and tools needed to combat cybercrime.

“This award is a huge deal,” said Agent Adams. Detective Sergeant Brandenburg’s work stood out on a national level, competing against much larger cities with far more resources. His efforts are a testament to what can be accomplished with a one-person lab.

The Pender County Sheriff’s Department and the Board of Commissioners commend Sergeant Brandenburg for his dedication and congratulate him on this well-deserved national recognition.
