Emergency Management assists with planning and coordination between:
- Emergency communications
- Local, state, and federal emergency response agencies
- Municipal and private sector agencies
Working together, these groups provide a framework that encompasses all hazards and all levels of government. Agencies work together for all types of emergencies, whether it is a swift water rescue, a wildfire, or a hurricane.
During large emergencies such as hurricanes, the Emergency Management Department operates the County's Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
There are four phases of Emergency Management: preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation.
